God at work through kohlrabi, the Called campaign, a volunteer toolkit, church multiplication practices, and local mission.

“They have to write a 150-word article on kohlrabi.”

—Lance Kraai, farm director at New City Neighbors, on some of the responsibilities of the high school students who work on the farm, which is transforming its neighborhood one student and one vegetable at a time. Read more of the story.

What works in church planting
When the RCA started church planting, we didn’t know exactly what worked and what didn’t. But over the years, we’ve learned from both the church plants that thrived and the ones that didn’t. Now we’ve identified seven best practices for successfully planting a church:

  • Get assessed
  • Get trained
  • Get parented
  • Get coached
  • Get connected
  • Get healthy
  • Get multiplying

By sticking to these practices, we’re not just planting churches; we’re planting churches that are healthier and more sustainable. Visit multiply.rca.org to learn more.

Local Missional Engagement leadership communities provide long-term support, networking, and learning among churches that want to strengthen their local mission work. This experience is for churches of all sizes and contexts. New local mission leadership communities will be forming in 2017. If you and your church are interested, contact Eliza Cortés Bast, coordinator for Local Missional Engagement, at ebast@rca.org or 616-541-0849.
