Located in the historic village of Stone Ridge, New York, just two hours north of

New York City and nestled in the Hudson Valley between the Catskill and Shawangunk mountains, Marbletown Reformed Church (MRC) is a small, enthusiastic congregation seeking a part-time or shared minister to guide us in building our faith and membership. We want our pastor to be approachable and available, eagerly involved in church activities, visitation, and counseling. Mindful of the work of the Spirit within each of us, the pastor’s teaching and preaching, pastoring and shepherding, will give evidence of the Spirit’s working.

MRC leaders and staff seek to faithfully serve and welcome a pastor with the wisdom and knowledge to effectively lead the congregation, complete administrative tasks, chair consistory and other meetings. As a small membership church, interpersonal relationships between the pastor, consistory, congregation, and church staff are vital, while recognizing the parity of ministry.

As we live out our calling today and plan for the future, we seek a minister who will guide us through the preaching and teaching of a Reformed understanding of scripture and life. Pastoral care by the minister and elders is key as together we seek to grow both in faith and numbers, even as we continue our commitment to mission and outreach. Current ministries include: Music/Choir, Bible Studies, Fellowship, Sunday School, Sewing Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Food Pantry, and Local and Global Missions. Support and space are provided to the Boy Scouts, AA meetings, and bi-monthly men’s breakfast, worship, and sharing. Our hope is to build on our current ministries and expand into new ones.

While each congregant has a different expectation for Sunday morning worship, there is an embracing of the variety. Some would like the sermon to be between 10-20 minutes, others 20-30 minutes. The majority desire music to be 10-20 minutes of each service, with a mix of traditional and contemporary. The first Sunday of each month we gather with the communion of saints to celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, where all are welcomed.

All this to say, MRC is looking for a part time or shared minister who understands and fulfills the traditional RCA call of pastor and teacher, and a shepherd who is approachable and available to all in our congregation. We believe the future of the church in this changing world is best served by a minister well-grounded in Reformed Theology expressed in preaching, leadership and daily living.
