Lead the Constituency Relations Team

  6. Provide context, establish guidelines for, and monitor CORE Team members’ annual work plans for constituency development and transformation

  8. Lead and ensure CORE Team evaluations and follow up on any issues identified for strengthening team dynamics and achieving team goals

Essential Qualifications:

  4. One to three years experience demonstrating leadership and organizational skills.
  5. Excellent writing and communication skills.

AVL Technical Coordinator

Requirements for the position include strong interpersonal communication skills, detail oriented, exhibit a personality that engages the church family, sees tech as a tool for enhancing relationships and clarifying communication, exhibits expertise in multiple technical systems and the way they integrate with each other (specifically audio, video, sight/projection, and lights), proficiency with software (ProPresenter, audio and video editing), demonstrates a heart for worship, values the role of corporate worship, and has the ability to tell his/her faith story. Must have at least 5 years of technical experience, preferably in a church context. Upon request, the AVL Technical Coordinator may need to flex regular work schedule to compensate for events and during intense ministry seasons. Director of Youth Ministries

Specific Duties of the Director of Music/Organist

  • Direct and accompany the adult choir
  • Maintain the agreements for additional musicians (vocal and/or instrumental) who are hired to supplement Sunday services or special services
  • Play the organ, piano, and/or keyboard for regularly scheduled worship services
  • Provide preludes and postludes for regularly scheduled worship services, including special holiday services, as well as the 12th Night Boar’s Head Festival.
  • Consult with the pastor relative to the selection of hymns to be sung by the congregation
  • Maintain or schedule maintenance for the organ, pianos, and handbells
  • Maintain the music library and the choir room
  • Plays at weddings and funerals (for added compensation) when schedule allows
  • Attend staff meetings when needed
  • Work with the Worship Committee regarding music budget and any other matters
  • Meet annually with the Personnel Committee to review the job description and performance

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Hires, supervises, and dismisses section leaders and instrumentalists
  • Submits section leader and instrumentalist records to Church Treasurer for payment
  • Finds substitutes for Sundays off

Capabilities required

  • Is a highly capable organist and keyboard performer
  • Choral conducting (mostly volunteer vocalists)
  • Flexibility to perform in a variety of musical genres

Thumbnail Sketch of the Congregation:
Sanctuary Christian Reformed Church (CRC) is a small, growing church with a vibrant children’s ministry located in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle. On most Sundays about 70 adult worshipers and 30 children under the age of 12 gather for worship at 10am in Taproot Theatre. In addition to worship there is a nursery and 3 classes for children. Infants and toddlers are cared for in our nursery which is available beginning at 9:50am. Preschool through 2nd grade join the adults in worship through the greeting time and are then dismissed to 2 separate classes. Older children participate in youth group at 9am and then join their families in worship.

The adults in worship represent a broad spectrum of ages ranging from early 20’s to folks in their 70’s. The majority of the congregation falls somewhere in the 20-45 age bracket. Currently there are 20 families in the church who have children between the ages of birth-13. There is a total of 27 children who come from these families. By January 2019 these numbers will grow to 22 families and 33 children as our 6 pregnant women give birth!!

Sanctuary was started in October 2004 as part of a CRC church planting movement. The church has always rented worship space in Taproot Theatre and values this way of partnering with a like-minded neighborhood non-profit. Sanctuary meets for worship at Taproot Theatre, choosing to invest its time and resources in operating the Green Bean Coffeehouse and PATH Preschool instead of in maintaining its own facility.

The Green Bean, a non-profit coffee shop located around the corner from Taproot Theatre in Greenwood, opened in 2005 and existed in 4 different locations since then (including an up-cycled abandoned McDonalds) before opening in its current home in 2013.  In 2016, Sanctuary took over the operation of PATH Preschool, a single classroom, 20 student preschool that operates 4 half days a week and employs 1 lead and 2 assistant teachers Sanctuary sees these endeavors as part of the way we love our neighbors.

Philosophy of Ministry: Recognizing the over-programmed, hectic pace of life, Sanctuary has intentionally eliminated midweek programming with the exception of our community groups, which meet in homes around the city 1 night a week. Our Sunday gatherings are dedicated to reorienting our lives around Christ and equipping us to live as joyful witnesses of the gospel in all the places we scatter throughout the week. While we deeply value our Sunday gatherings, we believe that growth in our discipleship happens largely outside of Sunday morning, during the week. For our children, the significant place and context for discipleship is the home. The Director of Children and Family Ministries is a vital team member in this work.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The position of Director of Children and Family Ministries includes 3 areas of focus:

Faith Nurture:

  • Curate a gospel rich, age appropriate curriculum for each of our classes

Leadership Development:

  • Develop, equip and care for a rich network of volunteers

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Words and Sacraments
  • The Senior Pastor is a full-time pastoral position that has the responsibility of developing and supervising all ministries of the church, the goal of which is a Christ-centered ministry that builds up believers, trains disciples for the ministry, and equips the congregation to reach others. 
  • Preaching and teaching the Word of God, performing the Sunday service and administering the sacraments.
  • Agreement with the doctrine, aims, and purposes of the Reformed Church in America denomination including its Statement of Faith (see www.RCA.org for more information).
Outreach and Discipleship
  • Ability to inspire and challenge the congregation with the exposition of God’s word, to teach and to lead in the study of Scripture, to answer questions from non-believers, to disciple new believers, and to work alongside and encourage more mature believers to shepherd the congregation.
  • Partner with the congregation, church leaders and volunteers to seek opportunities to outreach to the Asian-American community.
  • Disciple and strengthen existing coworkers, and to recruit and develop new co-workers.
Fellowship
  • Will develop and oversee nurturing ministries.  Will have direct one-on-one ministry contact with all congregation members on an on-going basis.
  • Will work closely with the FLCC Consistory to organize programs to enhance fellowship between both the adult and English congregations.
Consistory Board and Administrative / Reporting Duties
  • The Senior Pastor will work with the FLCC Consistory and its various committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities and listen to their counsel to provide spiritual leadership.  Will attend and chair the monthly Consistory meetings; and will participate in the RCA regional classis committees, national conferences and related activities, provided such activities do not hinder his / her responsibilities to the congregation.
  • Will lead the church in planning, conducting and evaluating a comprehensive Christian Education program (i.e. Sunday School, Bible Study, etc.).  Will recruit, train and encourage lay leaders in planning and carrying out evangelism, discipleship and nurturing ministries.
  • Will be accountable to and evaluated by the Consistory Board holding a common goal of building church unity across all ministries.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Seminary graduate with Master of Divinity degree from an accredited school, college or university with coursework to include biblical and theological training.
  • Minimum of two years of pastoral experience.  Experience may include internship, mission work, or other full-time or part-time ministries.  Sensitivity to issues in a multicultural, multilingual, and multigenerational congregation is essential.
  • Ability to lead by example and is humble serving with effective interpersonal skills, capable of inspiring group leaders and members to work together.
  • Has developed appropriate administrative skills; particularly that of prioritizing in planning, organizing, executing and delegating staff and lay leaders in such a manner that develops a spirit of team ministry. 
  • Ability to preach to adult and senior congregation in Taiwanese or Mandarin and is able to converse in Taiwanese and English.

discipleship.

Accountability: The Director of Music & Worship reports directly to the Lead Pastor, who himself reports to the Consistory. All staff are evaluated and reviewed by the Executive Committee of Consistory. The Worship Arts Ministry is overseen by the Worship Committee.

Qualifications:

  1. Have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the BRC statement of faith
  2. Actively support the mission and vision of BRC
  3. Passionate about building and functioning within a team
  4. Possess strong organization and communication skills
  5. Possess strong computing skills: word-processing, email, Google Drive, basic office so\ware
  6. Able to maintain confidentiality
  7. Passionate about experiencing personal and corporate worship based upon the definition of worship provided above
  8. Possess a love for an intergenerational church and the best of the Church’s music, including old and new, traditional and contemporary
  9. Has a teachable spirit and is willing to train and equip others for their own development as worship ministry volunteers
  10. Proficient in at least one leading musical instrument (guitar/piano), and able to lead congregational singing
  11. Understand or can be trained to use industry standard so\ware such as Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, Powerpoint
  12. Understand and able to interact with other leaders regarding A/V equipment such as soundboards, monitors, and video projection technology
  13. Education: Possess training and competence in music and theological understanding. College-level training in Bible, theology, or music desirable, but not required.

Responsibilies:
A. Worship Service Planning and Directing
Includes such items as:

  1. In partnership with the Lead Pastor, plan Sunday AM and occasional special worship services; create weekly order of worship
  2. In partnership with the Lead Pastor, plan, lead, or participate in the Sunday PM service upon request
  3. Oversee schedule of music teams and leaders for weekly worship, communicating effectively through email and/or other forms of communication on a weekly basis
  4. Supply music, schedule rehearsal, and lead rehearsal for all weekly music teams, involving both praise band and organ/piano team members
  5. In partnership with the Lead Pastor, provide on-stage leadership for worship services
  6. Ensure effective communication with all who will take part in worship services

B. Worship Arts Ministry Team Development
Includes such items as:

  1. In partnership with the Lead Pastor, provide encouragement, vision, and direction to worship ministry volunteers
  2. In partnership with the Lead Pastor, cultivate a worship ministry marked by technical proficiency, musical excellence, artistic sensitivity, and spiritual vitality
  3. In partnership with the Lead Pastor, lead the Worship Committee
  4. Lead times of biblical reflection and prayer during worship rehearsals
  5. Identify, recruit, and develop other worship volunteers
  6. In consultation with the Lead Pastor and Worship Committee, provide periodic training for musicians and technical volunteers
  7. In partnership with the Lead Pastor and Worship Committee, establish yearly goals for Worship Arts Ministry

C. Professional Expectations
Includes such items as:

  1. Participate in the life of Bentheim Reformed Church
  2. Participate as a team member in the BRC Staff, attending staff meetings and participating in staff projects

D. Personal Growth

  1. Establish yearly personal goals
  2. Opportunities for growth through conferences and training sessions are available
  3. Opportunity for growth via coaching from a seasoned local Worship Director is available

Worship is the heart’s response to truth about God, particularly who He is and what He has done. All worship leaders at BRC seek to equip the mind with truth about God, and enable the heart to respond to God in worship.

BRC is a church deeply committed to the gospel of Jesus, the Word of God, and the mission to make disciples. BRC is a growing church, largely comprised of young families, and has an average Sunday attendance of 250-300. Bentheim is a rural part of the larger community of Hamilton, located southwest of Grand Rapids, MI, and about 15 minutes southeast of Holland, MI.

Children and Youth Ministry Director

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone with a heart for Jesus and passion for leading children and young people to know Him. The Director will oversee our children and youth ministries for kids from birth through high school. Currently there are approximately 50-60 such children across the ministries of nursery, Sunday school, and junior/senior high youth group. We have recently moved to a new facility and are praying for the continued growth of our church. A primary responsibility will be setting and leading curriculum and programs and working with families to point children and young people towards Christ and help them grow as His disciples. This is in addition to coordinating and leading the many volunteers that serve in those ministries. The Director will partner with other New Life staff and leaders to pursue our mission to grow as one body in Christ through worship, discipleship, and outreach.

The American Reformed Church is located in northwest Iowa and is seeking a full-time pastor to minister to and with its congregation of approximately 140 parishioners. Originally given this name to encourage the community to think of us as something other than the “Dutch” church, today we are enriched by members that come from a variety of denominations and backgrounds. We try to meet the needs of believers which have not been met in other churches.
