The Cohort Detroit experience is a ten-month commitment that cultivates young adult leaders, encourages intercultural friendships, and creates space for honest conversations at the intersection of Christian service, racial justice, and vocation.
Volunteer quote: “As a participant in our sister cohort in Central America, I owe much of my own spiritual formation, ability to lead within diverse contexts, and commitment to learning and serving alongside disinvested communities to the Cohort program.” —Nathan Groenewold, Cohort Detroit Leader
As part of Cohort Detroit, you will serve alongside Detroit organizations and local residents as you discover your place in God’s community. Depending on the partner you are placed with, your work might involve community development, advocacy, ministry support, after-school education, medical street outreach, internet access projects, or other areas you are passionate about.
Cohort Detroit participants stay with host families.
Resonate Global Mission (CRCNA) supports interns as they fundraise $6,000 USD or $7,000 CAD. Additional need-based aid is available. Stipend of $1,000/month covers all living expenses and spending money. Apply for Cohort Detroit’s monthly contribution toward your monthly student loan payments or college savings fund.
Cohort Detroit is designed for individuals ages 19–30 with an ability to serve and learn in flexible environments and a desire to engage in and learn from diverse cultures.
