The opportunity
The Presbyterian Church of Manaus is a thriving congregation with many vibrant ministries. One of the ways the church reaches youth in the city of Manaus and in the Amazon River basin is through English Camps. Knowing English can be a valuable skill for many career paths in Brazil, and it can open doors that students might not have otherwise. These camps offer the opportunity for campers to be immersed in the English language, to attend classes and small groups, and to hear the gospel. Evening services are held each night, where the message of salvation is shared. We hope you’ll join us and answer the call:
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I; Send me!’” (Isaiah 6:8).
Volunteer groups can participate by leading classes and workshops at the camp and by being conversation partners with whom the students can practice their English. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, with energy to play games, worship, and interact with students over the course of several days.
