Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel

Palestine & Israel

The RCA Peace Project is focused on walking alongside Christians in Israel/Palestine. One of the Peace Project partners is the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI). This organization seeks to support local and international efforts to end the Israeli occupation and bring a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with a just peace, based on international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

Opportunity type:
Volunteer opportunities:

Volunteers will spend three months living in one of several EAPPI placements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. As a volunteer, you will walk alongside those who are living life under occupation. You will report human rights abuses, help protect communities, and keep international agencies informed about the situation on the ground. You will also commit yourself to advocating for change and promoting a just peace in the Holy Land when you return home.

Volunteers—also known as Ecumenical Accompaniers, or EAs—will stay in one of seven locations (Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho, Hebron, South Hebron Hills, Yanoun, or Tulkarem), living in a house with three or four other EAs. You will have some input on where you are stationed, but the final decision is made by Jerusalem staff. Food is paid for by EAPPI, and EAs purchase and prepare food as a household. EAs typically have one day off per week, as well as additional time off scheduled throughout the three-month term. You will be provided money for lodging, transportation, and other expenses during your days off, if sufficient funds are raised (see cost notes).

Cost notes:

Cost to participate in the program will be between $7,000 and $8,000. Volunteers must raise support to cover expenses.

Nearest airport:

Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. It is a 30-minute drive to Jerusalem from the airport by shuttle service or taxi.

Volunteers must be between the ages of 25 and 70. Applicants must be able to demonstrate maturity, commitment, and mental and emotional stability. If you are a passionate and caring individual dedicated to human rights, this is a volunteer position for you.
