The Way Out Ministries

Hawaiian Gardens, California

Just outside Los Angeles, Hawaiian Gardens is neighbor to the “gang capital of the nation.” Addiction, neglect, abuse, and poverty are realities, as well as deep-seated gang ties and violence. People need transformation through Jesus. In this place of seeming hopelessness, The Way Out Ministries brings change in the name of Jesus by starting at the root of the problems this community faces. Your skills can help support The Way Out Ministries as it lives out its mission in this community.

Volunteer opportunities:

Individuals or couples are needed from June to August to assist with an inner-city VBS program, community outreach, carpentry, maintenance, painting, and other projects. Volunteers should be flexible, active, and willing to serve in a variety of ways.

Limited accommodations are available, but The Way Out Ministries will work to help volunteers find affordable housing options near the ministry.

Cost notes:

Cost varies based on season and type of work. Volunteers are responsible for raising support to cover expenses.

Skills in teaching the Bible, tutoring, and recreation are helpful for volunteers who will be working with the children’s programs. Bilingual language skills (Spanish and English) are very helpful.
