Mescalero Reformed Church is a community of people who desire to purposefully present the gospel of Jesus Christ to their neighbors by living out the mandate to love God and love others. Mescalero is the only town on the 463,000-acre Mescalero Apache Reservation. The church feels strongly about reaching out to the community and letting people know that they are welcome just as they are.
Key Scripture: “Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you” (Romans 15:7).
Participate in weekly church activities, such as youth group, a club for kids, Bible studies, women’s meetings, and community outreach. Help with vacation Bible school or other projects, as determined by your group’s skills and interests. In the midst of these activities, you will learn about and interact with the history and culture of the Mescalero people.
Most volunteers will be housed at the church. If your group is especially small, you may be able to stay in a duplex owned by the church. If you prefer, there is a local inn nearby where your group may stay at your own cost. Meals will be the responsibility of the group, although several meals throughout the week will be provided by the church at community gatherings.
Groups will be responsible for covering all travel, including to and from the airport, and most meals.
